On 16 January 2019, the Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution S/2019/2452 authorizing the creation of a new special political mission, the United Nations Mission in Support of the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA). It calls on UN member states, particularly neighbouring countries, to support the implementation of the UNMC mandate. Mission staff are made up of different categories of staff, with different levels (reflecting increasing responsibilities and requirements) within each category of staff. Please read the UN guide to Dener categories so you can decide in which category of staff and at what level you are suitable. This information is very useful when you start looking and applying for positions at UNMHA. From 2012 to 2013, she was also an advisor and bureau chief for the Office of the Special Envoy for Sudan and South Sudan, having served as the political director at UN headquarters and supported both offices in collaboration with the UN Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA). Last month, the Secretary-General wrote to the members of the Council to conduct a UNMDA review. The review documents difficulties in setting up the mission, such as the operating environment in Hodeidah and the Houthi authorities` slow approval of visas for mission personnel and clearances for equipment, such that UNMHA „has just maintained its initial operational capacity to deliver on its mandate.“ In accordance with the Secretary-General`s proposal of 31 December 2018 for the establishment of the mission, UNMHA will have up to 75 observers and other support staff. The draft resolution calls on the Secretary-General to send the mission quickly and to include the term „complete“ in the text, which seems to implicitly indicate delays in the commissioning of unsealed CNUHA.

UNITED NATIONS, January 7 (Xinhua) — U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday announced the appointment of Daniela Kroslak of Germany as head of the UNMHA support mission. The Hodeidah agreement stipulates a ceasefire in the Yemeni governorate of Hodeidah and the redeployment of Houthi rebel and Yemeni government forces from the port city of Hodeidah and nearby smaller ports of Saleef and Ras Issa. In the same resolution, the Security Council called on the Secretary-General to submit proposals by 31 December 2018 on how the United Nations will fully support the implementation of the Stockholm Agreement, including the content of the ceasefire and the redistribution of troops. He also appointed the United Nations to chair the Coordination Committee for Redistribution (CSR), which was established to oversee the ceasefire and the redistribution of troops. The Secretary General has appointed retired Major General Patrick Cammaert (Netherlands) as President of the RCC. Cammaert arrived in Hudaydah on 22 December 2018 with an advance team and began providing UN support for the implementation of the Stockholm Agreement.
